figure/ground shift

I acknowledge that my continued fascination with shifts of figure and ground: “first I see X figure on Y ground, and then Y is the figure and X is the ground”, “now you see me, now you don’t” ” first there is a mountain then there is no mountain, then there is” (Donovan), is verging on the childish!
