“Sixteen”: a sketch

… “Sketch” perhaps suggests something quick, whereas this took a couple of days to do. It is a preliminary drawing at least, testing out some colours in a slightly different arrangement than others. Sixteen squares in a floor-tile pattern.

Oh Andy, it’s buzzing! I want to see it three metres square!…

Thank you Dave, Richard and John. I would like to see a large version too. Only a few years ago for me it was all on a large scale. Over the year or so the work has been getting smaller (for the most part). I think that these images require a certain distance that is very difficult to get with large canvases unless you have lots of space, so I keep doing the small ones. I have become a painter of miniatures I think. I even use a magnifying glass when I am working these days!
