Nice joyful image Andy! That was the song at my (young) sister-in-law’s funeral, so it is lovely to see another slant on it. Are these canvases quite small?

Once you get something in a ‘frame’ it can be difficult to access other interpretations. For what it’s worth, I think Dylan’s lyrics here are much more hard hitting than they first appear. The content of the ‘benediction’ being impossible I think says something about any benediction: knowing it to be impossible we say it anyway (creating an ‘as if’ frame). I only quote it because as I was writing the word ‘ladder’ those lyrics came into my head. And yes the canvases are 5″x5″. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

Thanks Andy. You serve up lots of food for thought! There’s always an intellectual challenge in one form or another when I approach your blog.
