Study: Figures on a Coloured Ground

with 5 comments

In a conversation with Rachael Pinks and Clay Smith at Rachael’s studio recently I said that my paintings were always quick to make, and then, to prove me wrong, as soon as I got back I started work on a study of Redies & Spillmann figures that has now taken ages to complete.

Study: Figures on a Coloured Ground, Acrylic on Canvas, 12″x12″

In my study I am asking “what approaches to painting these figures would be congruent with the subject?” And I am learning a lot about the figures and the phenomenon of colour-spread as a result.
